Arielle Balbus ’11

Arielle Balbus is a Development Studies concentrator interested in the intersection of environmental policy and community health and wellbeing.  Her senior thesis explores the People’s World Movement for Climate Justice, an international movement that originated in Bolivia in April, 2010.  Beneath the banner of climate justice, this movement seeks to bring a new tone- and new voices- to the historically elite climate change discourse.  Arielle seeks to understand why these voices arose when they did, and what their message could mean to the climate debate and the search for “sustainable” development.
